GIANT SPEAKER SALE  Grin

We will have a wide variety of unusual DIY speakers for this meeting. All but the little single driver MLTL's a suitable for use with a 2A3 or larger SET amp. In fact, I now have so many speakers sitting around the house that Linda has suggested I sell a few, so most will be for sale for no more than I spent to build them, and in some cases less. I've posted pictures on my Smugmug photo page:

Hi Fred what kind of prices are we talking about for the 3way speakers with the hammer 18's?
Thanks Nick

I just converted them to four ways, but they sound very good the way they were designed as three ways. The three way enclosures are sitting empty in the garage, so it would be easy to reinstall the parts into the original enclosures. Unfortunately the drivers in these speakers are expensive: the 18's were $150/ea on sale (half the price of the equivalent Eminence Definimax 4018LF woofers), the mids were $53/ea, and the PSD 2002 compression drivers were $55/ea. Crossover parts were about $150.

I could sell them for $650, which is a bit less than the cost of the parts, or for $600 if you want the ASD1001 compression drivers instead of the PSD2002's, which have a bit more high frequency extension.

Hi Fred it might be awhile before I would contact you about them. It's just not in the budget right now.

John, repeat this mantra over and over: "I love my job. I would rather be here than at home listening to my audio system". No it ended about 5:30. By 9:30 Linda and I were at the Elegant Hogg Bar and Grill listening to live music. Don't ever do that. It will undermine your satisfaction with your audio system no matter how good it is.  Grin

Cool, sounds like ya'll had some fun.  And then you went out and topped it off with live music, sweet. Did you sell all your speakers you were hoping to?

No, I didn't sell any. You can see how crowded it's getting, and I'm beginning to hear some grumbling from my wife. I can't decide whether to get rid of her or lose some of the audio equipment. Here's a picture of her bitching about how much space the the audio systems are taking up.

I may have to start giving them away, or paying people to take them. In the meatime here's a serious offer: If anybody wants to borrow a pair of speakers for three or four months let me know. Not pictured is a pair of Vandersteen One's. I get over to Austin every two months or so and could deliver them to anybody in Houston or Austin.
